Canal Cleanup Beginning Monday, Debris Pickup Update

The City of Cape Coral has received approval from the State to begin debris cleanup in canals on Monday, November 7. Crews will begin clearing debris that can be accessed from land, such as downed trees and items on the shoreline. Debris will be removed from the water using barges at a later date.

An interactive debris pickup map will be available for canal cleanup once work begins on Monday.

Since debris collection began on October 5, the City of Cape Coral's debris contractor has removed 21,175 truckloads of hurricane debris from Cape Coral streets, totaling 1,026,733 cubic yards. The debris collected could cover 160 football fields at three feet high.

Waste Pro Horticulture Pickup

Waste Pro will begin picking up containerized horticulture on Monday, November 14. Pickup will fall on your regular trash day.
Vegetation must be placed in containers or horticulture bags – not plastic bags – and separated from other debris piles.
If personal containers are used to hold vegetation, Waste Pro will empty them and leave them in the right-of-way.

Household Chemical Waste Event

The City is collecting household chemical waste (HCW) items on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 7 - 11 a.m., in the City Hall parking lot,1015 Cultural Park Boulevard.
OnlyHCW will be collected from trunks and truck beds.

Reminder:

Hurricane Debris must be sorted into separate piles (see above graphic)
These piles can be touching but cannot overlap or be mixed.
Do not illegally dump debris.
