March 2018 Update
Twelve of the thirteen construction contracts (1-10, 12 and 13) are now underway. Contractors have begun installation of potable water and irrigation mains and four wastewater lift stations have been installed. Deep gravity sewer construction is now underway in Contracts 1, 2, 5, 6 and 10 and will begin soon in other contract areas. Asphalt roadways have been pulverized to make way for these crews. Contractors are utilizing canal water to minimize dust and airborne pollution from these activities. Due to the deep excavations required for lift station and gravity sewer construction, contractors must utilize dewatering pumps to lower groundwater levels in these deep excavations. These dewatering pumps utilize special enclosures to achieve compliance with the City’s noise ordinance, which limits construction noise in residential areas to 60 decibels between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM. As gravity sewer construction progresses, residents and the travelling public should exercise caution and expect some traffic delays and detours as they travel through construction areas. Residents should continue to use 833-CAPEUEP (833-227-3837) to report concerns related to construction. Questions or concerns related to assessment payments should be directed to Customer Billing at 239-242-3851.
