Lake Kennedy Center Closed for Renovations Starting Jan. 18; Outside Activities Planned

Starting the week of January 18, Lake Kennedy Center will offer limited programming for approximately six weeks while the 11,000 square foot facility undergoes City Council approved renovations.

Scheduled improvements include the replacement of air-conditioning units and duct systems, which will significantly enhance the building’s energy efficiency, plus insulation is being added and ceiling panels will be replaced as needed.

While the building is closed to the public, Lake Kennedy's recreation staff has some fun outside events planned including:

National Popcorn Day
Tuesday, January 19, 2:30-5:00pm
FREE!
Come celebrate National Popcorn Day at Lake Kennedy Center! Drive up and receive a bag of popcorn. Stay a while and enjoy free activities with the Fun-Mobile. This is an outdoor event.


Drive Through Root Beer Float
Friday, January 29, 3:30-4:30pm
FREE!
Stop by Lake Kennedy Center after work or school and receive a FREE Root Beer Float and some free activities with the Fun-Mobile. This is an outdoor event.

Parking Lot BINGO
Wednesday, February 10
Parking: 9:30am; Bingo begins at 10:00am
$5 per person
Join us for another fun "Parking Lot Bingo" at Lake Kennedy Center! The cost is just $5 per person and includes five rounds of Bingo, plus raffles and snacks. Pre-registration is required at 574-0575.


Senior Idol
Saturday, February 20
7:00pm
$15 per person
This event will showcase the talents of local participants ages 50+, however spectators of all ages are welcome to attend! The cost to participate or attend is $15 and includes refreshments. Due to building maintenance, this event will be held at the Youth Center (behind the Lake Kennedy Center at 315 SW 2nd Ave.)  Pre-registration is required.
