Jacquelin Collins Named Cape Coral Charter Schools Superintendent

The governing board of the City of Cape Coral Charter School Authority has appointed Jacquelin Collins as the new superintendent of the charter school system. Collins served as the interim superintendent since the departure of Nelson Stephenson in April 2017. Collins will oversee the charter school system with more than 3,500 students and supporting staff, spanning of four schools and two campuses.

Collins joined the charter school system as a teacher for gifted and talented students when Christa McAuliffe Elementary School opened in 2006. She later performed the duties of assistant principal and school principal from 2010-2017.  

Collins will be supervising the administrative departments of the charter school system. She will also be responsible for long-term strategic planning and serve as the liaison between the Lee County School District and the City of Cape Coral Charter School Governing Board.

“It’s critical that we develop and nurture a world-class academic and athletics environment for students,” says Superintendent Collins, “and it must be powered by highly qualified educators, reinforced with involved parents and guardians, and supported by a diverse community of stakeholders, who understand that addressing the needs of today’s students will ultimately help establish a competent workforce for the future.”

Collins has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova University. She also holds a Florida Department of Education Teaching Certificate. Originally from New Jersey, Collins lives in Cape Coral with her husband and children.
