Household Hazardous Waste and Bulk Item Drop Off Event Set for February 6

January 27, 2021

The City is partnering with Lee County’s Solid Waste Division and Waste Pro to offer Cape Coral residents a convenient and responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste and large items that don’t fit into Waste Pro trash containers. Unwanted items will be collected at a free drop-off event on Saturday, February 6 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cape Coral residents can bring items for disposal to 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard (City Hall parking lot).

Please note that the event location is different than previous bulk item drop-off events. The location was changed due to the COVID-19 testing site. Signs will direct residents to the appropriate location.

Household chemical waste cannot be placed in dumpsters or curbside in the Waste Pro containers. Residents can bring drain cleaners, pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, liquid paint and thinners, polishes and strippers, fluorescent tubes, electronics, car and boat batteries, auto oil and antifreeze, gas propane tanks, flares and ammunition, and boat flares to the drop-off event.

While Waste Pro picks up bulk items curbside at no charge, this is another opportunity for residents to dispose of these items.

Waste Pro will have staff available at this event if any resident needs assistance unloading bulk items. This is a residential program and commercial building materials will not be accepted

All visitors are encouraged to wear facemasks and remain in their vehicles at all times to comply with social distancing requirements. Materials for drop-off will be collected from trunks of vehicles and the beds of trucks. Proof of residency is required to drop off items. Proof of residency may include photo identification with a Cape Coral address or photo identification and a utility bill, with an active Cape Coral utility account.

Bulk items also are collected curbside each week. Bulk pick up days are the day after trash and recycling bins are emptied. Note that white goods (e.g. washers, dryers, refrigerators) that require a claw truck still require a scheduled pick up.  Please call Waste Pro (239-337-0800)  to arrange to have any white goods picked up at the curb.
