The Public Affairs Office oversees the public information efforts of the city. The office handles media relations for all City departments except for Police and Fire. The Assistant City Manager oversees the office, which provides media and public relations support to the organization. The office produces the City's popular quarterly community newsletter, On The Move, conducts the biennial Citizen Survey, oversees the operation of the City's cable channel, CapeTV, and supervises the production and broadcast of live meetings in City Council Chambers. The Public Affairs Office also manages the city's social media accounts to share important information directly to our community and engage with residents and visitors on a variety of topics.
The office has worked with the City's CapeTV contractor, 1Pro Media, to produce several award-winning public service announcements and informational videos.
The Public Affairs Office is responsible for monitoring the City's website and providing support, along with the IT Department, to department staff to keep the information on the website updated.
