Office of Communications

The Office of Communications and Marketing in the City of Cape Coral plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective communication between the city administration and the community. As the overseer of public information efforts, this office handles media relations for all city departments except for Police and Fire, offering comprehensive media and public relations support.

Under the guidance of the Communications Manager, the office executes various initiatives vital for community engagement and awareness. Notable among these are the production of the City's acclaimed quarterly newsletter, "On The Move," and the administration of the biennial Citizen Survey. Additionally, the office manages CapeTV, the City's cable channel, broadcasting live meetings from the City Council Chambers.

An integral part of the city's outreach strategy, the Office of Communications and Marketing harnesses the power of social media to disseminate crucial information directly to the community while fostering engagement with residents and visitors on a diverse range of topics.

Moreover, the office collaborates closely with the City's CapeTV contractor, 1Pro Media, to develop award-winning public service announcements and informational videos, further enhancing communication channels.

Recognizing the importance of digital presence, the office is responsible for monitoring and updating the City's website in collaboration with the IT Department, ensuring that citizens have access to current and relevant information at all times.

Beyond these initiatives, the Communications Manager oversees the office, which includes media/public relations and marketing staff, as well as the City's 311 Call Center. This call center, formerly known as the Citizens Action Center, handles an average of 2,500 phone calls and 300 email inquiries and concerns from citizens monthly, providing essential assistance and support to the community.

In essence, the Office of Communications and Marketing serves as a vital link between the City of Cape Coral and its residents, facilitating transparency, engagement, and community involvement.
