BizChat

Our 4th Wednesday BizChat continues to grow as word spreads about the strong networking and educational opportunities that are provided at no cost to business owners at all stages of development. The Biz Chat represents a partnership between our City of Cape Coral Economic Development Office and FGCU’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), with regular participation from partner organizations such as the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce and Cape Coral Construction Industry Association (CCCIA).

These chats are held at the Coral Ridge Event Center, 950 Chiquita Boulevard in Cape Coral. We meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month from January through October at 11:30 a.m. A light lunch is included and business owners can volunteer to be a lunch sponsor in exchange for added time in front of the audience to talk about the benefits of doing business with their company.

A popular feature that we have added at the request of attendees is a business contact list to help business owners and leaders interact with one another. Businesses often connect during BizChats and help each other to grow. We hope that you will join us at our next 4th Wednesday BizChat!

See you there!

BizWalk

In 2018, Cape Coral EDO launched “BizWalks” to connect the Cape Coral Economic Development Office and partner agencies with local businesses to hear first-hand successes and challenges and share local resources.

This Cape Coral EDO initiative-based program is based on proven best practices from the International Economic Development Council and designed to help the city and partners get a pulse on our local businesses. The EDO team has partnered with the Cape Coral Community Development Department, Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, Cape Coral Technical College, CareerSource Southwest Florida, and the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University. The goal of this initiative is to visit local businesses on their turf, make them aware of free resources that are available to them, and hear first-hand experiences.

Cape Coral EDO BizWalks are held monthly. Each walk concentrates primarily on specific hubs and target industries. The goal is to meet local business owners and learn more about each business, how interactions have been with the local market and City of Cape Coral, and what kinds of improvements might be possible to create a better business environment. From each BizWalk, the Cape Coral EDO gathers baseline data to help gauge the local business climate, enabling it to fine-tune program development.

Cape Coral EDO BizWalks are coordinated by Cape Coral EDO Business Recruitment/Retention Specialist Nita Whaley at (239) 574-0443.
