Nor-Tech Calls Industry To Action With Food Drive - Read the Full Story
Starting this week, Nor-Tech will be accepting donations of canned and dry goods, which in turn will be distributed to local food pantries and charitable agencies. “There are people who are out of food already,” said Schou during a telephone interview yesterday. “People are getting laid off in our city, and it’s going to be awhile before they get their $1,200 checks from the federal government. 4.02.2020 - Lee County launches Business Assistance Portal and Hotline in response to COVID-19
Lee County businesses seeking information about recovery assistance can access a newly launched Business Assistance Portal at or by calling the Business Assistance Hotline at 239-533-2273 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. 

4.01.2020 - The Governor issued a Safer-at-Home Order today that goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, April 3. 

This Order also states that the following activities are considered essential; however, all social distancing guidelines should be practiced while conducting any essential activities:

  • Attending religious services
  • Participating in certain recreational activities
  • Taking care of pets
  • Caring for or assisting a loved one or friend

Thompson Thrift Retail Group Acquires Land for Mixed-Use Development in Southwest Florida
CAPE CORAL, Fla. (Mar. 5, 2020) –Thompson Thrift Retail Group (TTRG), a business unit of Indianapolis-based Thompson Thrift Development, Inc., announced today the acquisition of 13 acres of land in Cape Coral, part of the greater Fort Myers MSA in Southwest Florida. Biz Chat represents a partnership between the City of Cape Coral Economic Development Office (EDO) and FGCU’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), with regular participation from partner organizations such as the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill Industries, CareerSource, SCORE, and Cape Coral Construction Industry Association (CCCIA).

Cape Coral EDO BizWalks are coordinated by Cape Coral EDO Business Recruitment/Retention Specialist Nita Whaley at (239) 574-0443. The EDO team has partnered with the Cape Coral Community Development Department, Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, Cape Coral Technical College, CareerSource Southwest Florida, and the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University.  From each BizWalk, the Cape Coral EDO gathers baseline data to help gauge the local business climate, enabling it to fine-tune program development.
