The Cape Coral Special Events Division plans and facilitates a variety of Citywide Special Events throughout the year. The team is dedicated to excellence by making Cape Coral’s events diverse, family-oriented and attractive to consumers as well as corporate sponsors.

In addition to hosting Citywide events, the Special Events Division oversees the Special Event Permit Process that is required by all outside groups who wish to utilize City land to conduct events with more than 500 people. Groups who would like to request that their event information be posted on the City's Community Calendar should complete the form found on the Community Events page.


Safer Way Virtual 5K
April 24 - May 4, 2020

Cape Coral Parks & Recreation is proud to host the Safer Way Virtual 5k to take place from Friday, April 24 – Monday, May 4! All proceeds from this event will benefit the Lee Health Foundation. It's our goal to raise money to help our local healthcare workers fight COVID-19, while providing our community with an opportunity to stay active, participate in an event since we can't host in person events & be a part of the fight! All ages are welcome to participate.

The fee to participate is a $10 donation to the Lee Health Foundation. 100% of this fee goes directly to them. Those interested will have the ability to donate a larger amount on the registration portal. If you would like to donate additional, please do so in the “donation” section of registration. If you are unable to donate additional, please enter $0.00 in that section.

The Safer Way 5K is a 5K race or walk, where participants can register and participate from the safety of their own neighborhoods. We welcome participants from anywhere in the US. Participants will sign up and have 11 days to complete the 5K run/walk and record their results. The first 200 participants to register will receive an event t-shirt!

If you want to be considered as a division leader, you must prove your time with an activity tracker/app screenshot. Directions to submit your time will be provided to participants upon registration. Staff will contact division winners for proof of race times.

Please note: Outdoor exercise with social distancing is still allowed per the FL Governor's Executive Order.

 Veteran’s Day Parade -  Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Join us as the community honors our American Heroes and pays tribute to those who lost their lives, those who served honorably and those who are still proudly serving our country. The Veteran's Day Celebration is a cooperative effort of the City of Cape Coral Parks and Recreation and other local supporters.

The parade will be on Cape Coral Parkway beginning at 11:00 am. The parade route is westbound from Cape Coral Street to Chester Street.

Holiday Boat-A-Long - Saturday, December 21, 2020
Located at Four Freedoms Park on Cape Coral Pkwy, this annual beloved event of over 40 years features stage entertainment and performances, food vendors, Christmas music, drinks, crafts for the kids and a visit from Santa Claus, along with the boat parade. Following the boat parade, enjoy a holiday movie on the big movie screen. 

You can watch as the boats line up in Bimini Basin for the parade which first passes by the park's beach before heading down various canals in South Cape Coral.  There are bleachers set up in front of the beach with limited seating. Feel free to bring your own chairs and blankets.

The Special Events Division offers a variety of sponsorship opportunities that allow businesses to promote their name/products/services in conjunction with City organized events. The goal is to create a “win-win” combination for the sponsor as well as the event, which is accomplished by providing a creative venue for companies to reach their target audience while making additional funds or services available to enhance the event experience. For more information about sponsorships, please contact Todd King, Special Events Coordinator, at or (239) 573-3121.
