Picnic Areas & Playgrounds

Visiting local parks to enjoy PICNICS and/or taking children to Cape Coral's many PLAYGROUNDS are fun and affordable ways for families and friends to spend time together, enjoy the great outdoors, and get some fresh air!

PICNICS
For those who are planning an organized group outing, such as a birthday party, company picnic, or family reunion, and want to secure a specific park shelter on a pre-determined date, Cape Coral’s Park Shelter Reservations program allows people to reserve picnic shelters in advance at a nominal fee. Since the different park shelters have various capacities and some come equipped with grills, fans, and/or electricity, it is best to visit our Park Shelter Reservations page to find out about all of the options and the associated reservation fees. When the City’s covered picnic shelters are not reserved, they are available for public use on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In addition to parks that offer advanced reservations, there are a few Cape Coral parks with picnic areas that are free for the public to use and always available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Since the tables cannot be reserved in advance, these sites are best for small, spontaneous picnics with immediate family and/or a couple of friends in which the exact location is flexible. These parks and picnic spots include:

If you are looking to secure a specific picnic table at one of these locations, particularly on holidays and weekends, it is a good idea to arrive early in the day as the most scenic spots tend to be claimed very quickly. If, however, you do not require the use of a picnic table to enjoy your outing, all of the above parks (except Reflections Park) have plenty of grass and/or sand areas that can be used for a good old-fashioned picnic on a blanket! Please Note: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in parks.

PLAYGROUNDS

Going out to a local playground is a great and affordable way for families to enjoy quality time together, meet others for “play dates,” and just enjoy the outdoors, while children explore and make new friends.

Whether you have toddlers or older children, the Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department has plenty of playgrounds throughout the area to suit your needs!  The playgrounds are built for little ones to have safe adventures, whether they want to pretend to be on a rocket or a pirate adventure boat.  Older children can climb rock walls and swing to the moon on their own adventures also.  The equipment is colorful and child friendly.  Our playgrounds are built to certified playground standards, some are handicap accessible, and all are inspected for safety issues on a regular basis.
