Discover the power of play and be the we in "We Are Parks And Rec" as Cape Coral Parks & Recreation joins municipalities from across the country during the month of July to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month.
Initiated by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and celebrated in July since 1985, this annual observation recognizes all the ways parks and recreation can transform people’s daily lives. From providing places to play and stay healthy, to fostering new relationships and forging connections with nature, Cape Coral’s park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve the local quality of life.As part of the month long celebration, some special activities include:

July is National Parks & Recreation Month! In a Month-long celebration, we’re doing a Summer Sweepstakes Giveaway with 3 winners randomly selected - EACH WEEK! July 1 - July 31 - Coral Oaks Golf Course
PGA "Family Golf Month"
Special family deals start on July 1 and runs through July 31. Book 18 holes with your family (2 adults and 2 kids under 18) for only $50, including carts, any day after 12 p.m. and enjoy other specials as well! To learn more, please click here. The exhibit will be on display July 1 thru July 31 in the Main Entrance across from the stairwell. As part of the month-long celebration, a collaborative art display highlighting the department's employees will be on display in City Hall starting July 1.
July 2, 2020 - Art Center
In Spite of the Swamp
The exhibit will be on display July 2 thru August 27 in the Main Gallery. There will not be a reception for this exhibit. "In Spite of the Swamp" shines light on our local ecosystem that includes a diverse population of plants and animals, including a few considered to be endangered. Find inspiration in the university of myths or your personal experiences within swamps, sloughs, marshes, bogs, prairie, cypress domes and other similar areas across Southern Florida. Artists are invited to submit works in any medium. This is judged and juried exhibition.
July 4, 2020 - Sun Splash
July 4th Special
On July 4th, all active, retired, veteran or disabled veteran military members from all branches receive free admission with a valid military ID or contract. Up to 4 accompanying family members receive $3 off general admission. A valid ID or contract must be presented at the ticket booth window at time of purchase. Florida Friendly Landscaping
Join ONLINE at a Florida Friendly Landscaping (FFL) class to learn the nine principles that guide Florida friendly landscaping in Lee County. Each principle is covered in class so you can apply what you learn to your own garden. Plant selection and placement, efficient irrigation and proper mulching will be discussed. Learn how reducing your use of fertilizers and insecticides will help minimize the amount of chemicals that reach and pollute our waters. July 11, 2020 - Eagle Skate Park
In celebration of Parks and Recreation Month, the Eagle Skate Park will be hosting a scooter contest in partnership with Redi to Pedi on Saturday, July 11 from 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.! Mother's Day Weekend
Sun Splash Family Waterpark is celebrating Mother's Day Weekend from July 11- 12, 2020 due to

Lovers Key with Vinos Picasso - CANCELED

Come by Four Freedoms Park on Saturday, July 18 from 8:00-10:00 a.m. for an open house! Activities will include preschool/facility tours, games, crafts, and more. Raffle tickets will be given out for a chance to win prizes including a roundtrip Key West Express ticket! Virtual Rain Barrel Workshop
THIS WILL BE A VIRTUAL RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP. A ZOOM MEETING CODE WILL BE SENT TO YOU. PICK UP ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED DURING REGISTRATION.
Rain barrels are a great way to reduce storm water runoff and to save water for a dry spell. In this workshop led by Lee County Master Gardeners, you will learn how to make and install a rain barrel to use at home on Saturday, July 25 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Advance registration and payment is required as a limited number of barrels are available. The cost to participate is $45 per barrel (The class fee includes a pre-assembled rain barrel.) For more information please call Rotary Park at 239-549-4606.
The "Fun-Mobile In the Park" program returns to Paul Sanborn Park on June 15. This "mini-camp" is FREE to the public and runs Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., through July 31. Different themes, activities, crafts, and a special guest will be featured each week, plus children age 18 and under will receive free breakfast and lunch! Be sure to come between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to take advantage of the free lunch program.
Parks & Rec Month Calendar - July 2020
