Celebrate July is Park & Recreation Month!
Parks & Recreation is more than just playgrounds and recreation centers!
Get your "Game On" as Cape Coral Parks & Recreation joins municipalities from across the country during the month of July to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month.
Initiated by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and celebrated in July since 1985, this annual observation recognizes all the ways parks and recreation can transform people’s daily lives. From providing places to play and stay healthy, to fostering new relationships and forging connections with nature, Cape Coral’s park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve the local quality of life.
As part of the month long celebration, some special activities include:
Tuesday, July 2 - Friday, July 26 -
- "Game On!" Art Display at City Hall - An artistic interpretation of the "Game On!" theme featuring top activities from parks across the city will be on display on the first floor of City Hall. Stop by and see this unique display created by staff and summer campers at the Arts Studio!
Thursday, July 4 -
- Red, White & BOOM on Cape Coral Parkway, 5-10 p.m. - This event will feature Country Music Duo LOCASH and the best fireworks in Southwest Florida! www.CapeBoom.com
Saturday, July 13 –
FREE “Parks & Recreation FUN Day” at the Youth Center, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. - Open to ALL AGES, the public will have a chance to learn about Parks & Recreation programs and community partners at one convenient location, as well as engage in a number of free activities including inflatable games, a photo booth, chair massages, kid’s crafts, live critters, prize drawings and much more!
Free Boat Trailer Parking at Cape Coral’s Five Developed Boat Ramps - Locations include the Yacht Club Boat Ramp, Horton Park, Rosen Park, Burnt Store Marina and BMX Boat Ramp. The normal daily boat trailer parking fee is $10.25.
Regardless of the time of year, Cape Coral’s parks and recreation centers offer numerous free and affordable ways for people to recreate and enjoy leisure time. There are 20 parks in Cape Coral with covered picnic shelters which can be reserved in advance for a nominal fee, 20 parks with playground areas and several parks with amenities ranging from tennis, basketball, shuffleboard and bocce courts, to walking and exercise trails.
