South Cape Banner Program
The South Cape CRA Banner Program was created by Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency [CRA] and City of Cape Coral in 2015 and the program allows non-profits and not-for-profits located in the South Cape to place banners on the decorative street light poles. These decorative street light poles are located on the north and south sides of Cape Coral Parkway between Del Prado Boulevard and Palm Tree Boulevard. The purpose of the program is to foster interest and promote the community redevelopment area.
On October 15, 2018 the program was amended by City Council and the cost to install and remove the banners was reduced to $40.00 per pole.

CRA Project – Lafayette Street Now Complete
The stormwater improvement phase of the demonstration project in the South Cape CRA was completed in February 2014. The City’s Public Works Department constructed an underground system to provide storage and treatment of run-off water on Lafayette Street from Vincennes Street to Cape Coral Street.
The system will collect run-off water from Lafayette Street and the adjacent properties within the CRA and provide water quality treatment, reducing pollutants entering the adjacent canals. Additional improvements included installing new curbs, brick-paved sidewalks, palm trees and on-street parking. The revamped Lafayette Street is now a more pedestrian-friendly area.
This $1.47 million demonstration project now serves as a example for future streetscape and drainage permitting projects. The project will add significant value to the CRA’s efforts to improve the downtown community. The second phase in FY 2014 ($150,000) will include decorative streetlights, LED uplighting of the palm trees.
