Risk Management

To identify and minimize all risk exposures to the City of Cape Coral and provide quality service to its citizens and employees.

§         Risk Management is responsible for identifying risk, assessing risk, and taking steps to reduce risk to an acceptable level.

§         Execution of the risk management responsibilities involves both pre-loss and post-loss initiatives.

§         Pre-loss tasks include risk elimination, risk engineering, and risk education.

§         Post-loss actions include injury and damage assessment; cost containment and resolution; and recovery and finding.

Difinitive Summary: To provide forecast analysis for potential risk and professional advice regarding the method of financial funding for the exposure, such as a self insurance program, ensuring the plan is implemented according to the specified governmental guidelines.   Also promotes the best safety practice through preventive, proactive programs to department and employees.  The long-term goal is to minimize insurance and other costs (including lost time and manpower) associated with safety.

Safety

“A best practice or principle of a successful team means the team commits to do work at the highest safety level possible at a time it is being done, and each team member is individually responsible for helping achieve the desired safety level. The zero accident mindset does not mean that the process must be “perfect” with literally no chance of accidents; rather, it establishes perfection with our processes as a consistent goal for the team to strive for.”
