The Accounting Division is responsible for preparing financial statements in a manner that accurately processes accounts for all financial transactions and make significant contributions to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of the City, as well as to the growth and enhancement of the profession.
State Law requires that a complete set of financial statements be published within one year of fiscal year end and presented in conformance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP) and audited in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United State of America by licensed independent certified public accountants. Pursuant to this requirement, the Accounting Division prepares and issues a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) each fiscal year, which is in our Accounting Documents Online.
