Construction Industry Success
Honc Marine & Honc Destruction
HONC Marine and HONC Destruction provide full service marine construction and demolition services in Cape Coral, serving residential, commercial and municipal clients. The Honc family moved to Bokeelia in 1913 and began serving Southwest Florida in 1955.
HONC’s long standing reputation for quality and customer service sets them apart from their competitors. Their strategy, to transform their businesses to meet the current needs of the market, has made them a SW Florida success story. In 2009, the company bought their largest competitor and added its team of employees. This year, HONC Demolition expanded its customer base and territory by acquiring another demolition company.
Owner and CEO, David Mulicka, says “We are very proud of the fact that we installed over 80% of all seawall in Cape Coral in the past three years.” The company performed also 26 out of 31 demolition projects that were completed in the city in 2010, including two for the City itself. HONC has been able to hire back seven of its staff this year who had previously been laid off during the downturn. Mulicka is expecting to hire at least three more staff members this year to extend his team of currently 36 employees. He is proud of his well-trained, safe, and professional team.
David Mulicka’s strategy to excel in this economy is based on five principles: “Listen to your customers. React to the opportunities that the market will offer to you. Work harder and smarter than your competitors. Never sacrifice quality for price. Retain the best people and invest in the right equipment for your business. Mulicka advises other business owners, “Don’t wait for the market to come back. This is the new normal. Be open-minded to the opportunities that the market gives you.”
Mulicka sees a lot of opportunities for businesses in Cape Coral, “Cape Coral is a wonderful place to work and play. As a lifelong resident and businessman, I can assure any potential business owner that their employees will be glad they work and live in such a great environment. Prices are low, opportunities are high, and there is no snow here!”
