Bay Pines VA Healthcare System officials announced Friday the new Lee County VA Healthcare Center at 2489 Diplomat Parkway East in Cape Coral will open in mid-December 2012. At 220,000 square feet, the Cape facility is about three times larger, than the current Fort Myers clinic. Services that will be expanded at the new outpatient center include primary care, mental health, cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, podiatry, urology and dental care, among others. The employee pool of 330 will increase by 70 when the new facility opens.
