Small Business Development Center
The Cape Coral EDO has partnered with Florida Gulf Coast University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) satellite office near City Hall. The SBDC is dedicated to providing businesses with free, confidential advice. Their services include confidential, one-on-one counseling and educational workshops geared toward providing businesses with all the information they need to conduct a successful business. The SBDC is operated by FGCU’s Lutgert College of Business and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Since 2005, the SBDC-Cape Coral Office has counseled hundreds of businesses—from start-ups to expansions—through organized seminars and events.

MicroEnterprise Institute
The Goodwill Southwest Florida MicroEnterprise Institute helps emerging entrepreneurs with low to moderate-income levels and other disadvantages to start new ventures or grow small businesses. Graduates complete a short-term business and management training course and work with successful business mentors. The institute is administrated by Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida. A microenterprise is any type of small business with fewer than five employees and requires up to $35,000 (typically far less) to start up or expand. Evening courses are available and announced through our Cape Coral EDO social media.

Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce
The Cape Coral Chamber is a not-for-profit membership organization with more than 600 business members. Its office is the Visitor Information Center at the foot of the Cape Coral Parkway Bridge. The Chamber provides local business networking, small business resources, small business counseling, education, special events, visitor information and relocation assistance, community resources, and city and county government and business advocacy.

The Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) works cooperatively with property owners to revitalize downtown Cape Coral—the South Cape. Technical and financial assistance is available for exterior commercial building renovations and new construction projects. This assistance is available to business and commercial properties located within the CRA. Through financial incentives, programs are designed to encourage investment to redevelop, improve, and lease commercial property within the South Cape.
