Cape Coral Population to Hit 200,000

 The City of Cape Coral has seen a steadily increasing population (7% annual increase) over the last 10 years and looks to break the 200,000 mark before the end of 2020. Over 15,000 new residents were added to the City between 2019 and 2020, and more people are calling the Cape home every day. As of July 2020, Lee County had an estimated population of 739,000, including Cape Coral, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It is estimated that Lee County will be home to more than 750,000 people by the end of 2020 and will increase to nearly 1 million people by 2040 (University of Florida's Bureau of Economic and Business Research).

The Cape is now more populated than Fort Lauderdale and is quickly catching up to Tallahassee numbers as well. This rise in population in the Cape has promoted more housing developments such as Cape at Savona, Spring at Cape Coral and Surfside Apartments. Population increases are drawing more investors and developers to build multi-family, mixed-use, commercial and industrial developments to serve Cape residents and an even stronger workforce.
