While the walking trails at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve are open 365 days a year; the Kayak Shack Outpost is open seasonally, weekends only from November thru May. During regular operating hours, the Kayak Shack Outpost offers single and tandem kayak rentals.

The kayak trail at this preserve is not really for beginner's, it is an adventure! There are narrow mangrove tunnels, a portage, many twists and turns, and there could be shallow water in the tunnels or choppy water if you venture out into the river to get to the cove. The trail between the kayak shack and the portage is very narrow and at low tide there could be obstacles in the water you must paddle around and at high tide you may have to duck under some branches. Be sure to bring a sense of adventure! Four hours is the recommended rental choice because the best part of the park is on the east side of the portage. After the portage, there are no homes, no roads, just you and mother nature :)

Kayak Rental Rates:

Four hours is the recommended rental choice for best exploration of the area!

Single kayak: $30/four hours; $20/two hours; $10/hr additional  hours

Cash or credit cards are accepted methods of payment; driver’s license is required as collateral & people must be 18 or older to rent a kayak. NO children under 6 or pets are allowed.  Rental prices include sales tax and equipment.
