Rotary Park plans several excellent events throughout the year, including:


Paint ~n~ Sip Art & Wine Events at Rotary Park

Sign up for one of these super fun classes where you will paint a beautiful work of art to take home and call your own. Held at Rotary Park and taught by the talented and enthusiastic artists from Vino's Picasso, everything needed to paint is provided, no special art background is required! Just bring a positive attitude, your favorite beverage (adult or otherwise, drinking wine/beer is not a requirement, but it does make the class, and your painting, a whole lot more interesting!!!)

For these classes that are held at Rotary Park - you must be 21 or older to enroll, and registration is only available through Cape Coral Parks & Recreation, not through Vino's Picasso.

SPRING NATIVE PLANT, BUTTERFLY PLANT, EDIBLE PLANT SALE SATURDAY, July 29, 2017

Butterflies love native plants!! There will be milkweed for monarchs, passion vine for zebra longwings and gulf fritillaries; dill and parsley for black swallowtails, coontie for atalas, wild lime for giant swallowtails, and flowering nectar plants for all butterflies! There will be native plant experts on hand to answer your questions and to help you choose the right plant for the right place! Why is that important? Check out the Florida Friendly Landscaping page for details. At each Native Plant Sale, there is always fantastic selection of trees, shrubs, flowering plants, butterfly host & nectar plants, and ground covers to choose from. The spring sale (usually held the third Saturday in April near Earth Day) and the summer sale (usually held the last Saturday in July) are sponsored by the City of Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department. We accept cash, check, Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express. Also being held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 is a RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP  Led by Lee County Master Gardeners and instructors with the Florida Yards and Neighborhoods program, this class will teach you how to install a rain barrel at home and put it to use. The class fee includes a pre-assembled rain barrel. Advance registration & payment is required. The cost is $45 per barrel - there are a limited number of barrels available and the class usually sells out, so advance registration is required.

ADAM STRONGIN KIDS FISHING TOURNAMENT

8:00am-1:00pm

Tournament will be held at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, 5819 Driftwood Pkwy, Cape Coral, Fl 33904 and is open to kids of all ages. There will be prizes awarded for biggest fish, smallest fish, most fish in two different age categories (1) Eight and Under (2) Nine and up.
All proceeds go to the Adam Strongin Scholarship Fund for Eco-Adventure Nature Camp at Rotary Park


CAMP OUT AT JAYCEE PARK

This is a fun night of camping with your family, under the trees along the shore, at a beautiful, riverside park. Bring your own tent, camping supplies, family, friends, food & drinks. There will be kids activities throughout the day and a community campfire after dark for s’mores and ghost stories. This is the easiest camping you are ever going to get!
Check in between 2:00-4:00pm on Saturday, kids activities begin at 3:00pm

There area limited number of "premium" camp sites under the trees along the riverfront available. Once those sites are filled, there will be other spaces available out in the park, but there are no picnic tables or grills at those sites. Advance registration is always required.

NATURE OF CAPE CORAL BUS TOURS

This a fantastic way to learn about local wildlife and get an up close look at many of the creatures living in or around our beautiful parks. Guests will go with a knowledgeable guide in an air conditioned van or mini-bus to see all the wonderful wildlife Cape Coral has to offer. The tour goes to several different parks where guests can get off the vehicle & get a good view of the wildlife. Possible sightings include burrowing owls, manatees, bald eagles, osprey, scrub jays, various song birds, shore birds, and butterflies. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable, closed toed, walking shoes so you can get off and on the bus and walk around the parks at each stop. You may want to bring a camera and binoculars, too. Advance registration & payment is required. (All Ages)
Each tour departs from Rotary Park, travels to several parks around Cape Coral, then back to Rotary Park. Advance registration is required. Limited seating is available, please register in advance so you don't miss out!

16th ANNUAL BURROWING OWL FESTIVAL
Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00am to 4:00pm
Rotary Park is home to the one and only “Burrowing Owl Festival”, a fun festival held in honor of Cape Coral’s official city bird – the burrowing owl. People travel from near and far to get a glimpse of these elusive little creatures. They reside all over the city, in yards, parks, medians, and empty lots, so be on the lookout when you are out and about - sighting one is a real treat! At the festival, you can expect a fun day full of educational programs, hands-on activities for children, guided nature walks, live animals, butterfly house, butterfly plants for sale, bus tours to active owl burrows in the area, and much, much, more.

The Burrowing Owl Festival is held annually, on the fourth Saturday in February, in partnership with the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife.
$5 per person requested admission; children under 16 free.

It was beautiful evening - thanks for coming out!
Join the Southwest Florida Astronomical Society for a fun and free family night out observing the evening sky!  Experts from the society will have telescopes and viewing equipment set up and be on hand to explain what can be seen. No flashlights, please.

TROPICAL FUN-SHINE POLYNESIAN SHOW

This Polynesian dance show will have your heart pounding to tantalizing Tahitian beats.  Swaying hula dancers will mesmerize you as they tell a story with their hula hands to music of the islands.  Come watch some of the finest Polynesian performers in Southwest Florida.  Luau-type refreshments are included,
BYO wine, if you like. $20 tickets in advance or $30 at the door.
Doors open at 7:00pm and close when the show show starts at 8:00pm

FOSSIL SHOW AND HISTORY DAY

Admission: a donation of $3 for people aged 10 and up is requested; children 10 and under are free

Join the Fossil Club of Lee County at an awesome, educational and fun event, focusing on Florida's rich cultural past. Find out what pre-historic creatures lived in Florida. Learn all about Calusa Indians, some fantastic natural areas and Florida's ancient times. Talk with representatives from various organizations about the Calusa, fossils, and the history of Florida. Join us for a day of adventure, learning, crafts, food, and fun. Fossils and jewelry will be available to see (and purchase). Gems, fossils, jewelry, artifacts, sharks teeth, carvings, for sale or just for show. To be a vendor or educator pertaining to the event call 239-549-4606 for information.
