|Mohr Family Butterfly House and Gardens|
The new Mohr Family Butterfly House and Gardens are open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except observed city holidays. Thanks to the generous donation of $10,000 from Cape Coral residents Fred and Jane Mohr, the Freida B. Smith Special Populations Center participants and the general public are able to experience the educational and delightful benefits of a butterfly house and gardens, located behind the Special Populations Center, 410 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral.
The Butterfly House and Gardens were established to expose our participants with intellectual and physical disabilities to the wonderful world of butterflies. They are involved in all aspects of this experience, from learning about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, to painting pots, planting milkweed, caring for the house and gardens daily, and simply enjoying the peace and tranquility of their environment.
Special Populations would like to thank the Mohr Family for their incredibly generous and thoughtful donation, as well as local business and organizations who graciously contributed in-kind donations: The Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife, Lowe's Home Improvement Store, Home Depot, and the Guardian Angels for Special Populations, all who provided their time and supplies to make this project possible.
Please stop by to experience this wonderful place for yourself. For more information, or to schedule a tour, please call (239) 574-0574.
