2016-2020 HUD Consolidated Plan
The Consolidated Plan outlines community development strategies that promote prosperous neighborhoods. Its Annual Action Plan identifies projects and programs that will receive federal funds to carry out the strategies identified in the Consolidated Plan.
What is the Plan?
The City of Cape Coral’s Consolidated Plan identifies housing and community development needs and goals to be accomplished through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
This grant serves as the City’s primary financial resource for providing high-quality affordable housing, support services to individuals and families in need, and economic and workforce development.
The Consolidated Plan sets goals and strategies to be achieved over a five-year period, including analyses of housing and community development needs and a list of funding priorities. In addition, the City completes an annual update to the Consolidated Plan, called the Annual Action Plan, which identifies how it will implement and administer these programs.
Development of these plans includes substantial community participation through neighborhood forums, surveys, and online engagement.
Who uses the Plan?
The plan is used by the City of Cape Coral to support projects and programs from a variety of partners.
How is the Plan implemented?
The plan determines funding priorities, with funds distributed through requests for proposals. Selected applicants (not-for-profit agencies and City departments) then implement their proposals.
