Pet Licensing Services Now Available at City Hall
Cape Coral residents no longer need to drive to Lee County Domestic Animal Services in south Fort Myers to acquire the county tags for their pets. Pet owners now can purchase the required licenses at Cape Coral City Hall.
"We are happy to be able to offer this added service to our Cape Coral residents," said City Clerk Rebecca vanDeutekom. "Providing pet licenses at City Hall will make it more convenient for pet owners."
The City worked with Lee County Animal Services to enable Cape Coral to offer pet licenses to residents. All current requirements for licensing remain in effect. Pet owners will need to provide a valid rabies certificate to receive a license tag. The rabies certificate is required for any dog, cat or ferret four months of age or older (per Lee County Ordinance 14-22). The term of the rabies certificate along with whether or not the animal is microchipped or spayed/neutered will determine the cost of the tag.
Generally the cost of a one-year license is $15 and $25 for three years if the pet is "fixed" and microchipped. Unsterilized pets and/or pets without microchipping will cost $35 for a one-year license and $65 for three years. An additional $5 processing fee will be added to the cost of each license. Acceptable forms of payment are as follows: Cash, Credit, Debit or Money Order.
