The WildCam Project was started in 2002 with one EagleCam focused on an eagles nest in the Southwest Cape. Through an online poll, the nesting eagles were named George and Gracie, and the two birds were long-time mates. George died a few years ago, and Gracie selected another mate, George II. Gracie is about 22 years old or more. Her new mate, George II, appears to be much younger.
The City added the OspreyCam and the OwlCam shortly after putting up EagleCam. Unfortunately, the camera trained on George and Gracie has been removed, and we are unsure if we can get another cable connection for the camera.
Please Note: We encourage people to watch our birds; however, we are providing a live video stream directly from the camera. The video stream can be slowed by too many users logged in at the same time. So that everyone has an opportunity to watch and enjoy, please limit the amount of time you spend logged into the cameras.
EagleCam
EagleCam I is trained on George II and Gracie. Gracie is “Grand Matron” of Cape Coral’s nesting eagles. She has been fledging young eagles successfully for many years at her long-time location. While the loss of her long-time mate, George, in 2006 was heartbreaking, Gracie found a new mate. She and George II successfully fledged eagles this past season. To view EagleCam I, click here. Note: The camera at this location has been removed.
OspreyCam
The OspreyCam is focused on an artificial nesting platform erected by LCEC (our electric provider). The two adults have been using this platform for at least 13 years. The ospreys spend the majority of the year in Cape Coral. To view the OspreyCam, click here.
OwlCam
The OwlCam is looking at an established burrow. Young ones probably will not be seen until the spring. To view the OwlCam, click here. NOTE: Use "demo" and "demo" to log into the camera.
The WildCam Project is a joint effort of the City of Cape Coral, LCEC,
1Pro Media and Comcast.
