Park Rules / Park Rangers
Park Rules The Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department has a set of Ordinances, 73-97 and 73-05, that provide rules and regulations for parks and facilities. These were passed to provide for the safety and comfort of all that use and visit our parks.

Although there are many rules included in these ordinances, the most common ones that Park Rangers and Cape Coral Police monitor include:
  • Parking - No parking in fire zones or in handicap spaces without a placard.
  • Hours of Operation - Parks open at sunrise and close at sunset, except for pre-approved activities.
  • Alcoholic Beverages - Alcohol is not permitted in any park, unless pre-permitted for a City-approved event.
  • Swimming - Swimming is only permitted in designated swim areas; Visit Sun Splash Family Waterpark or the Yacht Club Community Pool for aquatic fun!
  • Skateboarding – Skateboarding is not permitted in any parks except Eagle Skatepark.
  • No Smoking – In consideration of the children, smoking is not permitted around playgrounds, bleachers, concession areas or shelters.
  • Golf – Golfing is not permitted in any parks except Coral Oaks Golf Course.
  • Animals - Animals are not allowed in athletic parks, playgrounds, beaches, picnic areas, nature trails, boardwalks or piers, but there is a doggie park located at Rotary Park for our four-legged friends.
Park Rangers
Park Rangers patrol all the Parks and Recreation facilities throughout the City of Cape Coral. You will often see them assisting visitors and residents with information, directions, events, emergencies and supervising the Boat Trailer Parking Program. The Rangers are in the parks to enforce park rules and to help visitors enjoy themselves in a safe and clean environment. They are responsible for documenting and reporting any unsafe equipment or conditions throughout.

The Rangers, who can be identified by their green and white uniforms and vehicles, attend formal and informal training in traffic safety, first aid, CPR and many of the codes and ordinances in the city to insure the safety of our park visitors. Rangers are equipped with police radios for emergencies and can also provide jump starts to vehicles and most watercraft when needed. In addition, they provide the first level of assistance for injured wildlife or animals.

You will see the Rangers at all of the City’s major events, directing traffic and parking vehicles. This has helped to reduce the demands on the police at these events and provide additional safety to motorists.

For additional information on park rules or assistance in the parks,
please contact the Cape Coral Park Rangers at (239) 691-2923.
