How can you become a firefighter recruit?

Application requests can be filled out online at www.floridafirejobs.org. Cape Coral is a member of the Lee County Hiring Cooperative and any applicants we consider are pulled from this pool.

Generally, prior to hiring, announcements are made in all statewide regional fire academies, several major newspapers, as well as local community colleges, advising that the Fire Rescue & Emergency Management Services Department is accepting applications, including details of how to apply.

Written, oral, and physical tests are part of the application process.

The order in which the tests are administered may vary.

The written exam will assess your ability in areas such as following written instructions based on technical information, map reading, math computation, and written communications skills.

The physical ability test is conducted in an untimed continuous series of evolutions, which will simulate job-related tasks.

The oral board exam consists of theoretical situations, which seek to measure your interpersonal and communication skills.
