ARTICLE XII: BUILDING CODES AND CITY OF CAPE CORAL ENGINEERING STANDARDS
Sec. 12.1 Adoption of codes: Florida Building Code: Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fuel Gas, Standard Housing, Standard Unsafe Building Abatement, the National Electrical Code, International Property Maintenance Code, 2006 Edition, and Engineering Design Standards
The following building codes are hereby adopted, and incorporated herein by reference as fully as if set out at length herein, and shall govern all construction, erection, alteration, repair and demolition of all buildings or other structures within the corporate limits of the City, and any appurtenances attached thereto, except those portions of said codes that are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended:

- Florida Building Code 2004 (with 2006 supplements) – Building with the exception of Chapter 1, Administration, with appendices A, B, C, D & E;
- National Electric Code – 2005 Edition
- Florida Building Code 2004 - Mechanical
- Florida Building Code 2004 - Plumbing
- Florida Building Code – 2004 Fuel Gas
- Florida Building Code – 2004 Existing Building
- Florida Fire Prevention Code 2004
- International Property Maintenance Code -2006 Edition
- Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code – 1985 edition
- City of Cape Coral Engineering Design Standards
