City Departments

City Attorney
The City Attorney's office provides direction and counsel to city officials to help them make informed decisions about the future direction of the city.

City Auditor
The City Auditor's office provides an independent appraisal function within the City.

City Clerk
The City Clerk's Office serves as central records and can fulfill all information requests including copies of minutes, ordinances, permits and building plans. The City Clerk also handles occupational licensing.

City Manager
This office is responsible for implementing Council policy and the administration of all City departments (except City Attorney and City Auditor). The offices of Economic Development and Public Information are situated in the City Manager’s Office.

City Council
The City Council is the decision-making body of the city. They are responsible for defining a vision of Cape Coral and providing direction to the City staff.

Community Development
The Department of Community Development is responsible for permitting, licensing, zoning, inspections and future development.

Community Redevelopment Agency
Coordinates the preparation of a plan for redevelopment of the community redevelopment area, and submits the plan to the local planning agency and city or county commission.

Financial Services
Developing & implementing a comprehensive financial management system to include centralized accounting, financial reporting, procurement, budget service and program performance evaluation.

Fire Department
The Fire Department is responsible for public safety, fire prevention and emergency medical services.

Human Resources
The Human Resources Department addresses job opportunities and personnel issues.

Information Technology Services
Provide effective Information Technology support to all City Departments. ITS supports the major business applications used within the City including Public Administration, Public Safety, and the GIS.

Parks & Recreation
The Department of Parks & Recreation is responsible for parks, recreation and social service activities.

Police Department
The Police Department provides protection of life and property, and information about crime prevention, code compliance, youth programs, criminal investigations and crime statistics.

Public Works
The Public Works Department is responsible for the city's utilities, real estate, engineering, construction, stormwater, canals and utilities expansion.
